It
is illegal to discriminate against a person on the basis
of a disabling condition. People's ignorance about HIV,
however, may get expressed as prejudice and employment
discrimination. Fear and concern about possible
discrimination or loss of benefits has caused some PLWAs
not to seek employment or to stay in their current job
rather than disclose their HIV status in a new
workplace.
